The LLR Training Hub works in successful partnership with DeMontfort University (DMU) and the LLR Integrated Care System to support nurses who are newly qualified or moving in to general practice for the first time to access the accredited GPN Fundamentals programme alongside their new role. The programme has been designed and delivered to support nurses in primary care to develop the skills and competencies required to enable them to thrive in their role. Fully funded, the programme ensures that employing practices will receive support to ensure that their nurse can be released for the duration of the offer.
Attached is more information pertaining to the course outline (including a link to the course details)
The programme runs several times throughout the year, with limited places available, so if you’re interested in finding out more, please get in touch via the ‘contact us’ page.
In addition to the DMU programme, our nursing colleagues can also access a wealth of wraparound support from the training hub. As part of our emerging preceptorship offer for newly qualified nurses, we are offering access to experienced nurse mentors through our Legacy Nurse Mentor programme, as well as access to our training hub Nurse Leads for advice and support. Our other offers include online course provision that can be accessed at any time and undertaken flexibly; our annual CPD events calendar, a growing Nursing Community of Practice, and our annual GPN conference – all of which can be accessed by all nursing colleagues in primary care, not just those who are newly qualified.

The LLR Training Hub, LLR ICB Primary Care Quality Team, and LLR ICB General Practice Nurse Facilitators have adapted a document created by the Black Country Training Hub showing tasks frequently undertaken by Health Care Assistants, Nursing Associates and Registered Nurses, and the roles and responsibilities of carrying out those tasks.
The training hub nurse leads have collaborated with the School of Nursing at DeMontfort University to design and deliver a Practice Assessor / Supervisor study day for registered nurses working in primary care. This is an ideal opportunity to learn from experienced assessors and to access knowledge and skills that will enable nurses to successfully support learners within practice. Get in touch with us at llrtraining.hub@nhs.net to find out when our next study day is planned.
The NMC has created a 3 minute video explaining the role of the practice assessor
